What are the general, most prominent traits of the Danish culture and mentality?
Q. I'm interested in knowing about the danish mentality, something that can't be exactly researched since this is more a subjective topic. What makes the Danish different than the rest of the world? What makes them unique? What are the most distinguishable cultural norms the Danish have? Do they (or you) still abide by social norms and traditions? If yes, then give me a few examples.

A. I am a dane, but i think your questions require so long answers that it will allmoust impossible, and on one day lol,,besides "unique" is a word to describe some one allot different then all others right,, nothing really unique anymore, too bland.. Also i dont think you can take away researched facts in finding out who/how we are as a result..But ill try to answer without too much ramble hehe.. Hmm... How important are Danish and Swedish as Scandinavian languages?
Q. Swedish has more speakers and is spoken in Finland, but isn't Danish more widespread (Greenland, Faroe Islands and Iceland as well)?
Asked by gl.fraenzi - Sat Jan 12 19:44:02 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Short answer: more people speak Swedish, and more people speak or at least understand Swedish as a second language. Around 11 million people speak Swedish, around 6 million people speak Danish. Norwegians understand both Danish and Swedish better than than the Swedes and Danes understand each other. In Finland, only 5% of the population has Swedish as their primary language. Swedish is also taught as a second language in schools, but many Finnish-speakers prefer English before Swedish.
